240Hz vs 360Hz: We Played 500 Hours to Find Out If It Actually Matters
“We sacrificed 500 hours of our lives so you do not have to.”
The monitor refresh rate war is getting ridiculous. We ran a controlled study to find the actual performance threshold where more Hz stops mattering.
At some point, the refresh rate arms race stopped being about performance and started being about marketing. We decided to find out exactly where that line is.
Our methodology: 12 players of varying skill levels played 500 total hours across three monitors, 144Hz, 240Hz, and 360Hz, in a double-blind rotation.
The 144Hz to 240Hz jump was massive. Every single player showed measurable improvement in reaction time and reported significantly smoother gameplay.

Browse GearThe 240Hz to 360Hz jump was statistically insignificant for 10 out of 12 players. The sweet spot in 2026 is still 240Hz with a 1ms response time and a good IPS panel.
If you are still on 144Hz, upgrade immediately. If you are already on 240Hz, save your money unless you compete at the very top.
